Re: Any ideas? Let us know!
How about covering the set up of a Genetic FAMP server with some basic set up of the FAMP components. Most BSD users will use as a server so this would be a good article. FreeBSD (proper disk partition for a server) Apache (multiple hosted sites) MySql (config for server) Phyton, perl or Php (many choices here).
ps. I know that partitions are based on the needs of the server (mail vs hosting vs etc) but again was just asking for a basic server set up.
Looks like I will be: - asking for the articles. - writing the articles. - buying the magazine to re-read the articles. - debate with myself about the articles.
I think that a few partition schemes could be written up for general scenarios (web, email, fileserver). For instance… an email server may want a dedicated partition using the majority of space just for the email storage. The reasonings behind the decisions should be explained. Showing the reader the logical steps (and caveats) that steered the decision is important. The user can then take this logic and apply it to their own situation.
Explaining that “Logs should get their own partition, I know this because one time I did not give logs their own partition and the root filesystem filled up”. I find more value in that statement than just saying log’s should get their own partition.
i’m also interested in command-line focused utility articles. the FAMP suggestion is a really great idea. Will comment more as I read the magazine proper as my subscription has just begun.
Thanks for your suggestions. We will definitely take this into consideration when choosing the articles for the next issue.

I think some information about the pf firewall and it’s capabilities should be great. In linux you have iptables, here you have pf, so I think it is an important part of bsd.
